Arriving Home!

September 3, 2019

.

We got home from our 2-month-long EASTERN VACATION late Sunday night… just in time to start preparing for HURRICANE DORIAN that was headed our way. The first thing we did was run into our little room and sniff our beds to make sure no one had been sleeping in them while we were away… thank goodness they checked out!!! Then we ran into the den and inspected the beds in there. Katie ran lickety-split into MY LITTLE COTTAGE and sniffed out the place… it was clean! Our toys were all where we left them… scattered around the floor! πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ‘ Over the next few days we have received evacuation orders, but the storm path is changing every few hours so we are still at home, waiting until the last minute to leave. Our plan is to pull out on Wednesday morning if things don’t look any better, but if Dorian will just turn a bit more to the RIGHT… we might be able to stay where we are and just endure some bad weather, but nothing too severe. UGGGGHHHH…. we will wait until morning to decide. β€οΈπŸΆπŸ™πŸ»

Please don’t take any chances. If everybody waits until the last minute, the roads will be full. I worry and I am pretty darned good at it. You have lived there a long time so you know the terrain and what it can hold, but if there is any question why risk it. Just the high waters can cause enough damage. Just sayin’. My thoughts are prayers are with you as I watch the news here in AZ. God bless each of you and anyone who is touched by this devastation.

Just a thought…if you have plastic tubs, fill them with items that you treasure but can’t take with you and store them up high. If there is flooding, they will be safe from moisture. Maybe they can be used as platforms to set furniture upon as well. Would be worth investing and keeping on hand in case you need them one day. I imagine the stores sell out of stuff at first threat. Still worrying…and hoping all is well. Just so you know, I have a masters degree in worrying. lol Have done it for far too many years.

Here’s hoping the bad weather is behind you and you can all rest. I was glued to the evening news when it hit your area and was relieved to see it was mostly downed trees. You were so lucky to have escaped with minor damages compared to others. Nonetheless, it is terrifying to go through. I used to spend a lot of time in the Golden Isles and St. Simons and Sea Island. Although, I love it, it does come with some weather challenges. So happy that you are all doing well and look forward to your posts when you get settled and life becomes normal again. Take care and best wishes.
